OREGON — Oregon State Patrol released bodycam video of the police chase and shooting of West Richland murderer Elias Huizar.
According to OSP, troopers were responding to an Amber Alert suspect on April 23, 2024. The Amber Alert was issued the night before on April 22 for a young child who was kidnapped by his father, Elias Huizar, who shot and killed two women.
OSP said Troopers were traveling southbound on I-5 near Eugene, Oregon when they had spotted Huizar.
Troopers said they then initiated a chase which lasted 22 minutes. According to troopers, Huizar and law enforcement exchanged gunfire multiple times during the chase.
Officials said troopers in the video attempted to PIT Huizar’s vehicle multiple times until he crashed his car. After crashing his car, officials said Huizar then shot himself.
Police were able to rescue the kidnapped child who was not injured.
